Understanding site conditions before installation helps ensure a smooth process and prevents misunderstandings. Below are important preparation requirements for frameless shower enclosures.

Important Site Condition Information for Frameless Shower Enclosures

This page explains site conditions, structural requirements, and preparation standards specific to frameless shower enclosures. Reviewing this information before measurement and contract signing helps avoid installation issues and misunderstandings.

WALL STRUCTURE & HINGE SUPPORT

Frameless shower doors require adequate structural support within the wall where hinges and mounting hardware are installed. Proper installation typically requires wood blocking or structural framing behind the tile surface at hinge locations.

Wholesale Shower Doors does not perform framing, wall reinforcement, or tile installation unless specifically contracted in writing.

If adequate backing is not present, alternative anchoring methods may be used; however, long-term performance depends on wall structure beyond the control of the shower enclosure installer.

TILE PREPARATION & CURB SLOPE

For proper drainage and water containment, tile surfaces related to frameless enclosures must be properly prepared, including:

  • A slight inward slope on shower curbs

  • Proper slope on tiled knee walls or partitions

  • Flat, plumb, and square tile surfaces

Improper tile preparation may result in standing water or water migration outside the enclosure. These conditions are the responsibility of the tile installer or builder, not the shower enclosure installer.

TRADE COORDINATION & ENCLOSURE TYPE DISCLOSURE

Frameless shower enclosures impose greater structural and installation requirements than framed or semi-frameless enclosures, including but not limited to wall reinforcement at hinge locations and proper slope of curbs and tiled partitions.

Homeowners or remodel contractors are responsible for informing the tile installer, builder, or designer when a frameless shower enclosure is planned so that appropriate framing, blocking, waterproofing, and tile preparation can be completed.

Wholesale Shower Doors does not control or supervise the work of other trades and is not responsible for deficiencies resulting from a lack of coordination or communication between the homeowner, remodel contractor, or tile installer.

DISCLOSED SITE CONDITIONS

During measurement or installation, site conditions may be identified that affect installation or performance, including but not limited to:

  • Lack of wall backing

  • Improper slope

  • Out-of-plumb or uneven tile

In such cases, correction by the tile contractor or builder may be recommended prior to installation.

CUSTOMER ELECTION TO PROCEED

If a customer elects to proceed with installation without correction of identified site conditions, Wholesale Shower Doors is not responsible for water leakage, door movement, loosening hardware, or performance issues resulting from improper tile preparation, structural support, or other trades’ work.

These conditions are not covered under labor or manufacturer warranties.

SERVICE CALLS & CHARGES

Service calls related to pre-existing site conditions, structural movement, tile preparation deficiencies, or other trades’ work are not warranty service.

Requests for inspection, adjustment, or correction related to these conditions may result in a billable service call, including travel time, labor, and materials. Applicable charges will be disclosed before scheduling.

BEFORE YOUR MEASUREMENT APPOINTMENT

To avoid delays or performance issues, please ensure the following before your measurement appointment:

  • Your remodel or tile contractor is aware that a frameless shower enclosure will be installed

  • Proper wall backing is installed at hinge locations

  • Shower curbs and tiled partitions are sloped inward for drainage

  • Tile surfaces are flat, plumb, and square

Corrective work by other trades may be required before installation can proceed.
